The Senate voted 87-12 to repeal the part of the Health Care Act known as the 1099 provision, and its passing is mourned by few. 1099 would have required business owners to file a tax-reporting document for all vendors from whom they had bought $600 worth of goods or services within a year. That sounds simply too cumbersome and onerous to me.
The downside is that 1099 would have raised $19 billion, and no measures have been adopted to replace the money. So the Health Care Act has become more expensive.
