Anthony Hopkins keeps a low profile and avoids the limelight. He used to occasionally write private letters, but when Cranston got this one and forwarded it to other Breaking Bad cast members, as Hopkins had asked, it somehow got leaked to the media and spread on the Internet. Hopkins was disgusted and quit writing letters too:

Reich postulates that the concept of "the common good" suffered a severe shock at the time of Watergate, and has declined ever since (hats off to Newt Gingrich), with upticks during the administrations of Reagan and Clinton, paving the way for the dog-eat-dog, win-at-any-cost ethos of the Trump era.
