Trump Threatens Rexnord

Trump has another American corporation in his sights. Click here for one of my earlier posts that touches on the subject, entitled "Dispatches From The Banana Republic Formerly Known As The United States Of America."

And click here for an article in The Wall Street Journal (again, apparently not behind the paywall; are they slipping?) by Bob Tita and Andrew Tangel, entitled "Trump Warns Another U.S. Company." “
Rexnord of Indiana is moving to Mexico and rather viciously firing all of its 300 workers,” Mr. Trump wrote late Friday. “This is happening all over our country. No more!”
What, is he going to nail them with a stiff tax deduction?

On ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Vice President-elect Mike Pence was asked whether Mr. Trump was going to intervene at Rexnord and other companies; he said Mr. Trump “will make those decisions on a day-by-day basis.” (Or perhaps on a minute-by-minute basis, depending on whether Trump feels a bit dyspeptic on awakening at 4 a.m. and is struck with an urge to tweet.)

The article says that hourly wages at Rexnord, ranging from $18.82 to $30.81, would have to drop below the U.S. minimum, $7.25, to match the company’s estimated cost savings in Mexico.
