Governor "Butch" Otter of Idaho -- Republican, of course -- has signed a bill overhauling the Idaho educational system. The teachers' union is protesting his plan to lay off teachers and provide every high school student with a mobile computer.
Otter has recently signed bills that will institute merit pay, remove discussions of class size and workload from union negotiations, and end tenure for new teachers.
