Donald Trump Has Great Respect - For What?

Obama and Trump met today in the Oval Office, a meeting that must have irked Obama immensely, since he has to pass his office to someone he knows is totally unfit for it, someone who launched his political career questioning the circumstances of Obama's birth, and therefore his legitimacy as president. However, the president sucked it up and rose to the occasion, and he has been praised from all sides for his graciousness toward Trump.
OBAMA: Most of all, I want to emphasize to you as president-elect that we now are going to want to do everything we can to help you succeed, because if you succeed, then the country succeeds. Please, sir. [Indicating for Trump to speak.]

TRUMP: Well, thank you very much, President Obama. This was a meeting that was going to last for maybe 10 or 15 minutes, and we were just going to get to know each other -- we had never met each other. I have great respect -- the meeting lasted for almost an hour and a half, and it could have -- as far as I'm concerned, it could have gone on for a lot longer.
Interesting. "I have great respect" -- for what? For President Obama? That would seem to be the natural conclusion to that beginning, but either he couldn't force such hypocrisy out of his mouth (he has no respect whatever for Obama), or, although he is prepared to say any lie that is politically expedient, he suddenly realized his alt-right supporters would not put up with hearing him say those words. (I'll go with the latter explanation.)
