There's apparently a movement afoot to urge President Obama to pardon the 740,000 "Dreamers" -- young Latinos brought to the U.S. when they were underage children. They came forward and identified themselves to the government as being undocumented, on the Obama promise that they would not be deported. The problem is that when they did so, they did not anticipate the election of an anti-immigrant administration following Obama's. Obama's protection was granted by executive order, not by legislation; therefore an anti-immigrant Trump administration could wipe it out with the stroke of a pen.
It's unlikely that Obama will sign such a bill, but the suggestion alone is a measure of the fear these young people -- many in university or in the military -- feel.
